Arc Browser Review: Is It the Best Browser for You?

Arc Browser was launched in 2022, and it’s built on a Chromium-based engine. If you’re wondering what that means, it simply means that it runs on the same foundation as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Brave. However, it has a completely redesigned interface and a lot of unique features that set it apart from traditional browsers.

Before you get excited and uninstall your current browser, keep in mind that Arc Browser is currently only available for Mac users. The Windows version is in development, but for now, Mac users can enjoy all its features.

First Impressions: Learning Curve

When I first installed Arc Browser, I was a little hesitant. The interface is totally different from any other browser, and I thought I’d have to relearn everything—where the back button is, where the refresh button is, and how to navigate through tabs. There’s definitely a learning curve, but once you get used to it, the features are amazing.

Now, let’s talk about the best features that make Arc stand out.

1. A Fully Redesigned Interface

Unlike traditional browsers where you have tabs on the top, Arc moves everything to a vertical sidebar. It takes a bit of getting used to, but once you do, switching between tabs is much faster. Plus, you can categorize tabs into different sections using a feature called Spaces.

2. Spaces – Organized Browsing

Spaces let you create separate sections for different types of work. For example:

• I created a Trading Space with all my stock market and crypto websites.
• A separate Work Space where I keep my CRM, payment gateways, and office-related sites.
• An Entertainment Space with YouTube, Netflix, and other media sites.

This feature is super useful if you open a lot of tabs and often forget which tab has what.

3. Tidy Tab Management

Arc has a built-in feature that automatically organizes your tabs using AI-based grouping. It labels tabs properly, so you can find what you need quickly without digging through dozens of open tabs.

4. Split-Screen Browsing

If you use a single monitor, this feature is a game changer. Arc allows you to view two websites side by side in the same window, so you don’t need dual monitors for multitasking.

For example:

• I keep my company’s payment dashboard on one side and my customer transactions on the other. That way, I can check payments instantly without switching tabs.

5. Picture-in-Picture Mode (PiP)

Watching videos while working? Arc lets you float videos in a small window while browsing other sites. If you love watching tutorials or background videos while working, this is a great addition.

6. Five-Second Preview

When you hover over a link, Arc previews the page in a mini window before you open it. This saves a lot of time because you can quickly check if the page has what you need without actually loading it.

7. Frequent Updates & Improvements

Arc is focused only on making a better browser. Unlike Google, Microsoft, or Apple, they don’t have distractions like email, chat, or cloud storage services. They release frequent updates, fixing bugs and adding new features.

One of my favorite things about Arc is customization. You can:

• Change the color scheme of the browser.

It’s one of the most flexible browsers I’ve used.

Drawbacks of Arc Browser

As amazing as Arc is, it’s not perfect. Here are a few downsides:

1. Learning Curve – Since the UI is completely different, it takes time to get used to.
2. Limited Availability – Right now, Arc is only available for Mac users.
3. Closing Bookmarks Requires Extra Steps – Unlike Chrome or Firefox, you need to click twice to close a bookmarked tab.
4. Limited Tab Space – Since the tabs are on the left panel, it gives you less space to view website content.
5. Some Websites Don’t Load Properly – Because of Arc’s unique layout, some websites may not open in full-screen mode, but you can fix this by adjusting settings.

Should You Switch to Arc Browser?

If you’re bored of Chrome, Safari, or Firefox and want a better way to manage your workflow, then Arc Browser is totally worth trying.

If you just need a stable, bug-free browser, then you might want to stick with your current one. But if you’re someone who loves power features, Arc is an exciting alternative.
